Albion target Markus Suttner wants his club to allow him a dream move to the Premier League.
The Austrian international has reiterated he hopes relegated Ingolstadt let him go as the Seagulls offer a three-year deal.
Ingolstadt are believed to be holding out for double the fee of about £2 million Albion have made.
Suttner is now back in training as Ingolstadt plot a return to the top flight.
He said: “The whole thing has gone over the entire holiday. I would have liked to have had a faster solution.
“I realise that Ingolstadt want to keep me, which is also no bad thing. At the same time I’m 30 now and this is my last chance to do something, to go abroad.”
Suttner is not impressed that Ingolstadt only offered him a new deal when Albion’s interest became apparent.
He has one season to run on his present contract.
The player believes Albion are offering a fair price for his services but also insists he has been happy with Ingolstadt, despite relegation last season.
The Seagulls are now concentrating on other left-back options but would move quickly for Suttner if Ingolstadt were to soften their so far hard line.
Suttner said: “What has so far been offered is the market value and, in my opinion, is appropriate. Ingolstadt want a higher transfer fee and that is their right.”
The defender’s comments follow outspoken reaction from his representative Markus Klimesch, who accused Ingolstadt of playing poker with the player’s future.
