ALBION are looking at their left-back options – after putting talks for Markus Suttner on hold.
The Seagulls have left the ball in Ingolstadt’s court after making what they consider to be a fair offer for the Austrian international, believed to be about £2.2 million.
Suttner’s agent has told the German club the bid is a good one and they should let the player go rather than keep him against his will.
But Ingolstadt, who sold attacking midfielder Pascal Gross to the Seagulls early this summer, are digging in their heels.
They are believed to be holding out for at least £3.5 million for a player with one year left on his contract.
They have offered Suttner, an experienced defender and set-piece specialist, a new three-year deal.
Albion are frustrated by the lack of progress and will look elsewhere – unless Ingolstadt soften their position as the transfer window develops.
Markus Klimesch, who represents Suttner, has accused Ingolstadt of playing poker at his expense.
He said: “The offer from Brighton is absolutely appropriate and five times what Ingolstadt paid to Austria Vienna two years ago.
“It makes no sense to hold a player against his will.
“Markus wants to switch, the Premier League is his absolute dream.
“He has asked for release several times.”
No further talks are planned between the clubs.
Niki Maenpaa is still expected to sign a new deal at the Amex while the search for another senior goalkeeper is ongoing.
