Albion under-23 midfielder Jack Harper has called time on his bid to force a way into Chris Hughton’s first team plans.
The 20-year-old former Scotland under-19 international has joined Spanish top-flight club Malaga for an undisclosed fee.
Harper, who was born in Malaga, arrived at Albion at the start of last season following a footballing education with Real Madrid C.
He was seen as an exciting addition to, initially, the development squad with a view to bigger things.
But that first-team chance has never seemed to be anywhere near the horizon.
Under-23 coach Simon Rusk said: “Jack has been a pleasure to work with but, despite his best efforts, he has struggled to break through into an extremely competitive first-team group.
"This move back to Spain gives him the opportunity to reignite his career. I would like to thank Jack for his hard work and to wish him well for the future on behalf of everyone at our club."
Harper played 25 times for Albion's under-23 side over the past two seasons, scoring four goals in the process.
