Whitehawk have parted company with boss Steven King by mutual consent.
Assistant Pablo Asensio, an Argentinian coach who previously worked with ex-Albion boss Gus Poyet, has taken over on a caretaker basis.
It is understood Asensio will remain in place until the end of the season.
Hawks lost 2-1 at home to Sussex rivals Eastbourne Borough last night.
Club president Chris Gargan said the decision had been taken by the board with “a heavy heart.”
Gargan told The Argus: “It’s a result business and, with nine points from the last 12 games, league results have not been commensurate with the level of investment the board have put in.
“We are grateful for what Steve has done for the club.”
The decision is likely to be a controversial one among Hawks fans.
King led their struggling side to safety in Conference south two seasons ago, then guided them to the promotion play-off final last term.
This season they reached the second round of the FA Cup before going down in extra-time in a replay against Dagenham.
