Portsmouth are keeping tabs on Albion's third-choice custodian Christian Walton.
Scott Bevan, the goalkeeping coach of Pompey, watched Walton's comeback from a groin injury in Monday's 4-0 defeat for the under-21s against Derby County at Lancing.
The injury cut short Walton's loan spell at Bury and Albion are keen to lend out the England under-21 international again to a lower division club to gain more experience.
Portsmouth, riding high in League Two, borrowed Aaron McCarey from Wolves last month with Brian Murphy, Paul Jones and former Seagull Michael Poke all sidelined by injuries.
Walton is vying for England under-21 recognition with Jordan Pickford, who plays against Albion for Preston at the Amex tomorrow.
Pickford is likely to be between the posts when the Amex stages the under-21s' European qualifier against Switzerland on November 16.
