Albion face double Dutch competition for goalkeeper candidate Niki Mäenpää.
FC Utrecht have been joined by top flight rivals Vitesse Arnhem in the queue to land the Finland international.
Mäenpää is among Albion’s targets to compete for the No.1 spot with David Stockdale next season, freeing England under-20s prospect Christian Walton to be loaned out for more first team experience.
The Argus understands Utrecht and Vitesse have offered contracts to Mäenpää, who becomes a free agent from June 1 when his current deal with second division VVV-Venlo expires.
Utrecht want the 30-year-old as first choice but big-spending Vitesse, with strong links to Chelsea, can offer the chance of Europa League football.
Mäenpää’s future will be decided once he has finished with Venlo, who have a vital last game at home to champions NEC Nijmegen on Friday evening. They need a result to stand a chance of reaching the promotion play-offs.
Meanwhile, former Albion loan keeper Ali Al-Habsi’s long association with relegated Wigan has ended.
The out-of-contract Al-Habsi was borrowed by the Seagulls this season when Stockdale was injured. He played one game at Bournemouth.
