Albion chairman Tony Bloom is aiming for a top six finish next season.
Seagulls have battled against relegation in the Championship for most of the current campaign but, with safety almost secured, Bloom is looking ahead.
He said “We will do our very best to give ourselves a competitive squad to be in the top six, so for sure we’ll be getting in new recruits in the summer which will get us in that position.
“It’s going to be quite a busy summer. We’ve got to get this season out of the way.
“There are a few players out of contract that we haven’t made decisions on so until we get to that point in early May I can’t say more than that.
“Certainly we’ll be looking to improve the squad in quite a few different areas.” Albion have staged a revival since Chris Hughton took over from Sami Hyypia at Christmas.
They still have to play the top four, beginning with the visit of Hughton’s old club Norwich on Good Friday, as well as Rotherham and Wigan, two of the teams fighting to beat the drop.
Bloom said: “We want to get mathematically safe as soon as possible. Once we get there hopefully we’ll have a few games where we are totally safe and can go and enjoy our football without any of the pressures.
“We are playing the top four teams. I’d much prefer to have that than playing another mid-table team.
“There is so much riding on it. We are guaranteed two more live games this season (Bournemouth and Watford at home) and we may well be live against Middlesbrough (away) depending on how the table looks so it’s exciting.”
