Sussex could rest all-rounder Chris Jordan in today’s YB40 tussle with Northants at Arundel.
Sharks boss Mark Robinson believes the former Surrey star might be in need of a breather.
Jordan has been a sensation with bat, ball and in the field in his opening weeks with the club.
But Robinson does not want to ask too much of the man he describes as “a diamond”.
Robinson said: “We will look at what is best for Chris Jordan.
“He has looked a bit tired in the last couple of games.
“Chris is a diamond and we have got to keep him sparkling and make sure he is in a position to be that matchwinner.
“We will look at his workload and see what is best for him.”
Matt Prior is unavailable and Monty Panesar will not be considered after twisting his ankle while batting in the Championship draw against Surrey.
Ed Joyce has some flu-like symptoms and will be assessed this morning.
Luke Wright missed part of the Surrey game through sickness but watched Sussex’s innings yesterday.
Robinson said: “Luke is feeling a lot better. He is very weak but should be okay.”
