A man is accused of attacked a ten-year-old boy because he was so fed up with children skateboarding and making noise, a court was told.
Graham Smith, 62, is accused of pushing the youngster to the ground and then kneeing him.
A jury at Hove Crown Court was told yesterday (January 3) Smith was frustrated with children playing on skateboards in Brighton.
The boy – who was with friends – suffered an eye injury.
He also said he lost consciousness during the attack on April 26 last year.
Gabby Henty, prosecuting, said the boy had been playing on his skateboard when he came across Smith who, “motivated by frustration”, pushed him to the ground and forced his knee into his face.
Smith was “shouting and swearing”, she said.
Miss Henty told the court how a man who saw what was happening described the incident to police.
She said: “He said the boy was in the foetal position. Smith was shouting at him.
"Then he saw him knee the boy to the ground.
"He kneed him in the head.”
After the incident the boy attended Brighton Police Station in John Street where photographs were taken of his injuries.
Around the same time Smith, of Carlton Hill, Brighton, called 999 and told police there had been a group of boys in Brighton causing a nuisance.
Miss Henty said: “He complained about the boys and their behaviour.”
Smith is on bail. The trial continues.
