The Liberal Democrats have retained control of Eastbourne but with a reduced majority from 20 councillors to 15.
The Conservatives gained five seats and now have 12 councillors.
The Lib Dems have been in the majority in Eastbourne since 2007.
Seats are up for grabs at local authorities across East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton and Hove.
Before the final count came in Lib Dem MP for Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd said he was confident about his party's prospects.
But although it's good news for Mr Lloyd here in Sussex, elsewhere in the country Lib Dems have suffered crushing defeats.
