Police on their way to a flat raid got stuck in a lift.
Seven officers were forced to wait 20 minutes while firefighters tried to reach them.
Yesterday residents at the flats in Donald Hall Road, Brighton, said there was “always something going wrong with the lifts” and called on the council to carry out repairs.
A Brighton and Hove City Council spokesman said: “We apologise to residents on the Bristol Estate for any inconvenience caused by this lift breaking down and assure them that our contractor worked quickly to repair the lift and did so within four hours. “The council has started a 10 year programme to overhaul all its lifts and is prioritising those in the greatest need.”
