Dorothy was joined by a host of scarecrows, tin men and cowardly lions to set an amazing world record.
Pupils from Mile Oak Primary School in Graham Avenue, Portslade, followed the Yellow Brick Road as they dressed as Wizard of Oz characters yesterday.
A total of 446 children set a Guinness World Record in the category ‘largest gathering of people dressed as characters from Wizard of Oz’.
They smashed the previous record of 250.
The pupils and staff achieved the feat on the sixth annual Guinness World Records Day.
Deputy headteacher Martin Cooper said: “The pupils had to be all together for ten minutes in the school hall to set the record.
“We were set the challenge by British Bookshops and Stationers and we thought we would give it a go.
“We are very proud and I think it was a fantastic effort by all the parents, many of whom I am sure spent hours on the amazing outfits.”
Mr Cooper is hoping that the picture will be included in the Guinness Book of World Records.
More than 300,000 people around the globe got together to break records yesterday.
