One of Brighton and Hove's most popular hotels is up for sale for more than £50 million.
The Hilton Metropole has been put on the market with a guide price of £52.9 million by its owner RBS as part of a “strategic disposal of assets”.
Experts believe that it is likely to fall into foreign hands.
Whoever the buyer is, however, changing hands will not make an immediate difference as the 340-room hotel has been let to Hilton until at least 2021.
Conrad Bigham, consultant at CBRE Hotels, which is handling the sale, said any new owner could only make major changes to the seafront building with the agreement of the leaseholder.
