A firefighter came to the rescue of his own daughter after she got her head stuck in a bed head-rest.
Watch manager Bob Beard had a shock when his home address was displayed on the emergency print-out at work.
The 47-year-old, who was on his first shift back at work after being promoted, said: “It read, ‘child stuck in bed’ and then my address. I couldn’t believe it.”
His three-year-old daughter Freya had managed to wedge her head between the iron bars of her parent’s bed at their home in Eridge Road, Crowborough, shortly after 10am on Wednesday.
When her mum Melanie found her Freya, who is a fan of the kids TV programme Fireman Sam, the toddler said: “Mummy I’m like naughty Norman Price, look what I’ve done.”
Norman is a mischievous school child and is one of the show’s main characters.
Mr Beard, who was on duty at the Crowborough Community Fire Station, said: “I went to my house in the fire engine with the rest of Green Watch who were all extremely understanding.
“We didn’t put the lights and sirens on in case it scared Freya – the important thing was to keep her relaxed.
“But actually it was quite comical, she piped up “Daddy I need the Jaws Of Life” - an American expression used in a TV show for hydraulic rescue tools.”
Mr Beard said: “I had no intention of using these on our bed as my wife would have said, ‘You are not using that!’.”
Instead, they managed to release Freya by rotating her.
She was only wedged in between the metal bars for ten minutes and was told to relax while the crews helped to free her.
