Tottenham are putting together an offer to sign Albion star striker Bobby Zamora.
His agents have held talks with chairman Dick Knight to discuss a potential deal.
Phil Smith, head of First Artists, said today: "I can tell you that Tottenham are formulating an offer for Bobby.
"They are interested in signing him but it depends on how serious that offer is."
He dismissed speculation about a £2.5m fee. Smith said: "We've got to deal with how the market place is at the moment. There's a lot to sort out.
"We sat down with Dick to thrash out valuations and other details. Everybody has got an idea of what Bobby is worth."
Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle watched Zamora several times last season and must find a replacement for Teddy Sheringham, who has been released.
Zamora's valuation might increase if he impresses for England under-21s.
He has been named in the squad for the friendly against Serbia and Montenegro in Hull on June 2 and the European Championship qualifier against Slovakia at Sunderland eight days later.
Smith told The Argus recently that Zamora, 22, would play in Division Two for the Seagulls next season if he was unable to find a Premiership club.
He said: "There would be no point him moving to a Division One club."
Zamora joined Albion from Bristol Rovers for £100,000 three years ago. He was signed by Micky Adams, now Leicester manager, who is understood to be interested in taking the striker to the Walkers Stadium.
Meanwhile, John Piercy will sign a new one-year contract with Albion when he returns from holiday in the United States. The versatile midfielder/frontman was offered a new deal by Albion manager Steve Coppell.
John's father Dave said: "John is delighted to have been offered another year. It was what he was hoping for.
"The offer came through as he went away but he will be accepting it when he returns at the end of next week."
Coppell's own situation is still not resolved. He is deciding whether to accept a new offer to stay on after almost saving Seagulls from relegation last season.
The futures of Simon Rodger, Dave Beasant and Dean Blackwell will be sorted out when Coppell makes up his mind.
