Former colleagues and students of teacher Jane Longhurst attended a summer concert in her memory last night.
More than 400 people packed into Barnden Hall at Oakmeeds Community College, Burgess Hill, where Jane was a music and drama teacher for three years.
Audience members saw performances of music, drama and dance at the college's Summer Sounds event.
A collection was also held in Jane's memory.
Colin Taylor, Oakmeeds head, said: "It was a lovely evening and a celebration of Jane's life. We wanted to raise money to buy a permanent memory of Jane and her contribution to the school."
Mr Taylor said more than £500 had been donated. It has not been decided what will be bought in Jane's memory but suggestions include musical instruments or artwork.
Jane taught at Oakmeeds between 1997 and 2000.
Graham Coutts, 35, of Waterloo Street, Hove, has been charged with Jane's murder.
