Furious revellers who still have not received refunds from the cancelled Beachdown festival have launched a new campaign.

The five-day Brighton event was called-off the day it was due to start after organisers said they couldn’t afford to pay for acts and crucial services.

Hundreds of people who paid upwards of £97 to attend in August last year have been left with no refund, and no reply from organisers Future Festivals Ltd.

One of the main organisers, Joe Pidgeon, was originally answering emails, but those still trying to claw back cash claim they have heard nothing in recent months.

Angry customers are now writing to BBC's Watchdog in the hope that an investigation will hold the organisers accountable and reveal where their money has gone.

A FaceBook group called Beachdown Letdown has 179 infuriated members.

One, Hannah Woodruff, last week called on them to follow her lead and write to the TV programme, which several agreed to do.

Tim Knight, who is owed £184, wrote to Watchdog saying: “Viewers of Watchdog who fancy attending a music festival need to be aware of the risks they run in buying tickets.

“Watchdog could do a great public service by getting to grips the organisers of Beachdown 2009 who have left many people feeling cheated.”

He added: “There is huge chain of people chasing their money for tickets, and owed businesses connected with the event. “ Mr Pidgeon, who sold his family home in Ditchling Rise, Brighton, was yesterday not answering calls from The Argus.
