Unions across Brighton and Hove could get together for a mass demonstration to “fight back” against a string of redundancies.
The idea was put forward at a public meeting to discuss the ongoing job threat in Brighton and Hove and give advice to those who have already lost their jobs.
Thousands of workers could march in the city as early as February if plans for the demonstration go ahead.
Dozens of workers and trade unionists attended the meeting at the Phoenix Community Centre, in Phoenix Place, Brighton, including staff from Lloyds TSB, the University of Sussex and Threshers.
Trade union council general secretary Bill North, who chaired the meeting, said more workers and unions should unite in a show of strength.
