A busy road was blocked after a two vehicle road accident.
The incident, involving a 4x4 car and a van, saw one of the vehicles crash into the central reservation.
It happened on the southbound carriageway of the A23 near the BP garage in Pyecombe, near Brighton.
Witnesses said there were five mile tailbacks on the road.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 3pm today.
One man, believed to be the driver of the car, was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with minor injuries.
A spokesman for Sussex Police confirmed the road was reopened at 4pm.
