Albion maintained their unbeaten away record this season after an entertaining match.

A virus had spread through the camp with Thomson and Hart getting ill and having to return back to Brighton, which was a shame as Thomson played so well against Man City. Northampton scored first from the lively Akinfenwa but was ruled out for offside. Kuipers was kept busy all of the first half after saving a couple of shots.

On-loan Anyinsah was again causing problems carrying on from Wednesday night, and it was a foul on him in the 43rd minute that earned Albion a penalty. Murray took his second in a week and coolly slotted past Fielding in goal.

Northampton started the second half the stronger team, but Brighton's defence stood strong and kept them at bay. At this point I was happy as I had 1-0 Murray at 35/1, but in the 77th minute Akinfenwa shot past Hawkins and Kuipers to pull a goal back. 1-1. More attacking from Northampton with two shots both saved by Kuipers. Then Brighton started to get more into the game with the introduction of Forster and new loan signing Thornton in injury time.

Thornton passed the ball to Murray who cut back inside and smashed the ball into the net.

Then remarkably Albion conceded a corner in the 95 minute. Everyone came up for it, even the keeper! A high ball was launched in, Kuipers came flapping for it and Akinfenwa headed into the net and the game finished 2-2.

All in all a good point away from home but it could so easily have been three.

We now sit in 14th, just in the bottom half, and we face Cheltenham on Saturday, which is winnable so come on boys we need a good home victory!

Albion have been rewarded with a home tie against Leeds if they manage to beat Derby in the Carling Cup.
