A neighbour has slammed a supermarket where late night deliveries are keeping him up “all night”.

The man, who did not wish to be named, lives in a residential block behind Aldi in London Road, Brighton.

He said Aldi has deliveries “literally all through the night”.

The resident has complained to the council but says it has not done anything about it.

He fears he will lose his job because the noise is preventing him from sleeping at night, meaning he is exhausted at work.

Brighton and Hove City Council said it has received a complaint from the resident.

A spokesman for the council said: “We have received a complaint from a resident regarding noise disturbance from Aldi deliveries in London Road, and are investigating.”

Aldi told The Argus that the delivery schedule has not changed for several years, but that current construction work nearby means they have to be flexible on when they receive deliveries.

A five-storey block of student flats is being built next to the store.

Plans for the new student accommodation block were approved back in 2021 by Brighton and Hove City Council.

The site will be home to shops and 156 purpose-built student flats.

It replaces a former 1930s Marks and Spencer, which was demolished in autumn last year.

Poundland and Iceland were forced to move out of the old building in June last year when work on the student block began.

A spokesman for Aldi said:  “We have had to be flexible on when we can receive deliveries at our London Road store due to the busy area and to meet the needs of customers. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to local residents and will continue to do our best to minimise disruption.”
