Brighton landmarks will light up in red and white as the city prepares to cheer on the Lionesses tomorrow.

England have reached their first World Cup final in nearly 60 years and excitement is at fever pitch as they get ready to face Spain for the title on Sunday.

Landmarks including the Sea Life Centre and Brighton Palace Pier will be illuminated in the country’s colours as they back the Lionesses to World Cup glory.

Sea Life's Victorian arcade will turn red and white as it celebrates the first football World Cup final for an England side since the infamous win in 1966.

Neil Harris, general manager of the aquarium, said: “It has been truly amazing to watch the Lionesses throughout the tournament, they’ve been nothing other than inspirational and it’s an honour to be able to show support to the team who are on the edge of making history of their own.”

Brighton Palace Pier will also be lit up in red, white and blue in a show of support for the Lionesses. The pier was also lit up for the semi-final victory against Australia where England beat the Matildas 3-1.

The pier will also be hosting a big screen viewing party at Horatio’s bar and is one of a host of places fans can watch the game live.

Elsewhere, Brighton's Royal Pavilion will also be lit up red in support of the Lionesses.

Hedley Swain, CEO of Brighton & Hove Museums said:''Good luck to the Lionesses in the World Cup.

"We're looking forward to the game and wanted to share our support and admiration for all the team have achieved so far.

"Last year our Goal Power exhibition at Brighton Museum looked at the history of women's football and this match will be remembered as a major landmark in the sport."
