A dog was coaxed off a mud bank with treats after it jumped into a harbour and was not able to swim back.
Hendrix the Springer Spaniel leaped into the water for a quick doggy paddle but found that he could not get back and was stuck on a mud wall.
Coastguard rescuers were then tasked with luring the dog from the bank with some tasty treats before reuniting him with his owner.
After the callout at around 9am on Tuesday, August 8, Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team said: “The team was paged to Hendrix, a Springer Spaniel that had jumped into Pagham Harbour by the wall in Pagham and couldn't swim back and was stuck on a mud bank.

“The team carried out a water rescue with our coastguard water rescue raft.
“We were armed with dog treats and were able to reach the dog, which was very pleased to see us and reunited him with his thankful owners.
“In an emergency out at sea, on the beach or along the coast dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
Coastguard teams were seen wading into the water in Pagham before befriending the chocolate-coloured pup and bringing him to safety.
Hendrix was quickly returned to the safety of his owners.
