A high rise building has been affected by smoke billowing from the basement as fire crews rushed to the scene.
Multiple emergency service personnel are currently attending the blaze at Queen Bury House in Havelock Road, Hastings, with ten pumps on the scene.
Thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the side of the building as firefighters swarmed the area to deal with the issue.
The road has been closed and a perimeter put in place to allow fire crews to tackle the scene.
The incident is ongoing.
An East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed that crews were first called to the scene at around 4.18pm.

Ten fire pumps are currently at the scene including an aerial platform, one main jet and one foam jet.
The fire was confirmed to be in the basement of the building but was affecting the eight-floor building as smoke rose from the ground.
South East Coast Ambulance Service are also believed to be attending the scene with a response car pictured on the scene.
The ambulance service have been approached for comment.
