AN ALBION star has dropped out of the Spain squad for “personal reasons”.

Robert Sanchez was called up to Luis Enrique’s side and given the number one shirt following Manchester United keeper David De Gea's omission.

But prior to Spain’s 2-1 win over Albania on Saturday, the Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper left the squad.

In a statement released before the match, the Spanish national team announced Sanchez was to leave the squad for “personal reasons”.

He was replaced by Barcelona B player Arnau Tenas, while Brentford keeper David Raya started the match against Albania.

In a post-match press conference, Luis Enrique said: “He left for personal reasons and that information belongs only to the player. If he wants to make it public, he will. It’s nothing serious.”

Spain next face Iceland in a friendly on Tuesday, March 29.

Albion’s next fixture is due to be against Norwich City on Saturday, April 2.
