THE body of a man has been found on a beach.

Police said the man was discovered on Brighton beach this morning, next to the Palace Pier.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 7.30am.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Emergency services were called to the seafront near Brighton Palace Pier shortly before 7.30am on Wednesday, February 9, after the body of a man was found on the beach.

"Enquiries are ongoing to identify the individual and establish the full circumstances of the situation alongside the Coroner's Office."
