A WOMAN was found dead on a beach.
Police were called on Saturday morning after reports a body had been found on the beach near Birling Gap.
South East Coast Ambulance service attended, as well as HM Coastguard’s helicopter from Lydd and Coastguard rescue teams from Birling Gap and Newhaven, and an Eastbourne RNLI lifeboat was also launched at 10am.
Sussex Police said: "Police responded to reports of a body of a woman found at the beach near Birling Gap, Eastbourne, at 9.10am on Saturday.
"Officers attended and sadly it was confirmed that the woman had died.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and the Coroner's Officer has been informed."
