TWO people were rescued from a car after it plunged into a canal.
Fire crews joined police and a member of the public to rescue the people from Chichester’s canal yesterday evening.
A Midhurst Engineering lorry pulled the submerged white hatchback from the water after the two people were taken for treatment by the ambulance service.
A West Sussex Fire and Rescue service spokesman said: “We were called to an incident involving a car trapped in Chichester canal at 5.48pm this evening.
“Two fire engines attended the scene.”
At about 9pm, the spokesman added: “The car has been recovered from the canal and two people have been handed into the care of the South East Coast Ambulance Service.
“Fire crews have now left the scene.”
