A MAN has died in a fall from a multi-storey car park in the city centre
Police and ambulance crews were called to the area behind the Brighton Centre at 8.55am today.
A helicopter was scrambled to the scene, and Russell Road was cordoned off.
It has now been confirmed that a man was found dead at the scene.
One witness said: "It looks like a major incident, there are police cars there.
"The roads were blocked off, and there was an ambulance with a tent there."
Officers at the scene had blocked Russell Road, but told car park users they could still access their vehicles.
Earlier, the police said they responded to a medical incident, with many officers and ambulances called.
The force said: "We were called at 8.55am when a man was found lying in the street in Russell Road, Brighton, by a member of the public.
"Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.
"He is believed to have fallen from an adjacent multi-storey car park.
"At this time, his death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious."
An officer for the coroner will now investigate the death.
