EMERGENCY services have confirmed a man has died on the seafront.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said emergency services confirmed the man's death on Hove beach shortly after 9am.
A Sussex Police spokesman said a body was found opposite the bowls club in Kingsway.
He said: "Officers liaised with the Coastguard agency and paramedics, and the man was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.
"The coroner’s office has been informed and the cause of death is unexplained at this stage, pending examination."
A Coastguard spokeswoman said the incident was "ongoing" but it was working with other emergency services.
"Just before 9am today HM Coastguard was asked for assistance following a report of a person in the water at Hove," she said.
"Coastguard Rescue Teams from Shoreham, the Shoreham RNLI Lifeboat were sent and the South East Ambulance Service and Sussex Police are on the scene."
