POLICE and paramedics rushed to the Seven Dials area of Brighton after a woman collapsed this afternoon.
An ambulance and three rapid-response cars were at the scene after an incident at the 7 Dials Launderette and Dry Cleaners in Prestonville Road.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called to assist with a medical incident at 2.10pm where a person had taken unwell in the launderette in Seven Dials.
"The incident happened in Prestonville Road.
"Ambulance crew attended the scene and treated the patient who had collapsed.
"They have taken them in an ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital."
One passer-by said: "It's clearly something major as they have so many ambulances and vehicles up there.
"You hope for the best, whoever it has happened to, but when you live round here you really hope its no one you know.
"I assumed it would be a crash because of it being next to the roundabout but I can't see any damaged cars."
Another witness said: "I saw someone run into a nearby shop asking for water because a woman had collapsed.
"Not long after that the ambulance services arrived."
Emergency services left the scene at 3.05pm.
