A MAN collapsed on the top floor of a two-storey building and had to be rescued by the fire brigade.
Emergency services attended the incident at Ian Hart funeral directors in Sompting Road, Worthing at about 11am.
The man became ill during a funeral service and required resuscitation.
He has been taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in a serious condition.
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: “This was a medical incident.
“We responded to reports at about 11am that a person had collapsed and the patient who required resuscitation has been taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in a serious condition.
“We would like to thank those who assisted this person before we attended.”
