Staff members at popular record shop Cult Hero said farewell to North Street after a decade in the area.
The Brighton shop held its closing down sale on Saturday with music lovers taking the opportunity to grab some last-minute bargains.
Owner and manager Frank Taylor, 35, said he was looking for alternative sites for his store.
The business had to close as the premises is part of the Hannington Lane redevelopment.
European retail real estate company Redevco is revamping a new entrance to The Lanes, which means some shops in North Street will be replaced.
Mr Taylor said: “I want to say thank you to all customers and well-wishers. It’s been a very emotional few days.
“Long-time customers said they will miss the shop being in North Street. Hopefully we will find another location soon. We’ve been in this street for ten years, having originally started in Duke Street in 2004.”
Mr Taylor said he started working in the music retail industry when he was 21.
He admitted it had been tough for him in the first few years as a novice store manager.
However, with his hard work and perseverance, Cult Hero became one of most popular and successful vinyl record shops in the city. He said: “I am the longest seller of new vinyl in Brighton. I just love music so much and Brighton is the perfect music scene.”
Staff member Stew Smith, 40, said: “I’ve worked here for six years and I will miss being in North Street. I love it here, all the customers are very friendly. North Street is a very busy street and it has been a great location for us. Hopefully we can find somewhere soon.”
