Albion have rejected a bid from Fulham to make Oliver Norwood's loan move permanent.
The Argus understands the Championship club's offer is nowhere near the Seagulls' valuation of the Northern Ireland international midfielder.
Norwood still has 18 months left on his contract with Albion.
They are reluctant to lose him without knowing which league they will be playing in next season.
Norwood, signed on a free transfer from Reading two summers ago, joined Fulham on loan for the season in July after 16 starts and 17 sub appearances in Albion's Championship promotion campaign.
The 26-year-old has been a regular at Craven Cottage, contributing five goals in 26 league games to help them to within a point and a place of the Championship play-off places.
