A FOREIGN student is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a HGV.
The accident on the A259 Brighton Road in Shoreham on Friday afternoon left the road closed for several hours.
The 15-year-old Spanish language student was hit by a black Mercedes HGV between Saltings roundabout and Shoreham High Street at 1.20pm.
An air ambulance took the girl to St George's Hospital in London with serious multiple injuries.
She remained in a critical condition on Monday morning.
Her family has been informed and has travelled to the UK to see her.
The driver of the HGV, a 55-year-old man from Portsmouth, was uninjured in the incident.
Sergeant Anthony Crisp, of Sussex Police, said: "Police would like to thank local residents and drivers for their patience during this road closure.
"We would still like to speak to any members of the public who may have any information in relation to the crash."
Witnesses are asked to contact Sussex Police using the eform at: sussex.police.uk/appealresponse quoting Operation Grimsby.
