THE A27 around Lewes has been reopened after a major fire.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service say the stretch between the Southerham (Lewes) and Beddingham roundabouts was reopened at 7am after a fire broke out Greystone Quarry, on the outskirts of Lewes, just after 7pm on Thursday.
It follows a meeting between the fire service, Sussex Police and the Highways Agency.
Five crews remain at the scene of the large fire of scrap metal.
Members of public in and around the area are advised to keep doors and windows closed to avoid the smoke.
