A MP has written to fast food firm Deliveroo calling on them to improve working conditions for staff.
Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas has written to the firm urging them to reconsider their position on increasing the drop rate riders receive.
The Green MP is backing the campaign by the Independent Workers’ of Great Britain trade union to improve their working conditions.
Ms Lucas said the growth of the firm in Brighton and Hove has been nothing short of phenomenal but staff were without the benefits to sick pay, holiday pay, and an entitlement to earn at least the minimum wage.
The MP said recent court cases won by workers in the gig economy showed they should be afforded basic employment rights.
