A KNIFEMAN has fled empty handed after attempting to hold up a convenience store.
The would-be robber entered the Sainsbury's in Carden Avenue, Brighton, and threatened a cashier with a knife and demanded money.
However no cash was handed over and the man fled on foot.
The incident happened at about 10.30pm on Sunday (October 23).
The suspect is described as white, of stocky build, about 5' 9", wearing a dark coloured parka style jacket with the hood pulled up, a black scarf pulled up covering his face, and Nike trainers with a white sole.
The knife is described as having a pinky-red blade and handle.
Detective constable Steve Smith, of Sussex Police, said: "The member of staff directly threatened was very shaken by the experience but fortunately was not hurt."
