A MAN'S body was found in a burning van parked in a cemetery yesterday.
Firefighters responded to a call about the van fire in Willingdon Cemetery in Gorringe Valley Road, Willingdon, on Sunday morning.
After discovering a man's body inside the blue Vauxhall Corsa combi-van, they called police.
A police spokesman said: “At about 8.20am on Sunday (August 14), police were called by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to a report of a vehicle fire in Willingdon.
"On arrival at the scene at Willingdon Cemetery, in Gorringe Valley Road, a body was discovered inside the car.
"The person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and the coroner’s officer has been informed.
"The death is being treated as unexplained at this stage, although there are no suspicious circumstances."
Emergency services and a police guard were still at the scene yesterday afternoon, though the scene was clear by this morning.
