A HOSPITAL was evacuated after a transformer caught fire in an equipment room.
Patients and staff at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath had to leave the building after its fire alarm sounded.
Four fire engines were sent to the scene just after 3.40pm today.
Firefighters used breathing gear to get into the smoke-filled second-floor plant room and a Co2 extinguisher to put out the blaze in a 45-minute job.
