Up to 40 musicians have been recording a song to commemorate the search for missing four-year-old Madeleine McCann.

Some of the best known performers from Brighton came together at the Church Road Recording studio in Hove to put together Missing (Where Are You).

The song will be sold from next week in aid of Missing People, formerly the National Missing Persons Helpline.

Those taking part include Charita Jones, aka Momma Cherri, and her gospel choir.

The song was written by Eminemmylou, who said: "It is basically a plea for missing persons everywhere and their families. It is written from the perspective of someone looking for somebody.

"The story of Madeleine McCann has been so prevalent in the news. Since then we have heard so many stories about families who have lost someone. I wanted to write a song that people relate to."

Musicians involved include Nick Pynn, who recently won the joint award for being star of the Brighton Festival Fringe, Tom Arnold of the Brighton Beach Boys, Eddie Myers of the band Turin Brakes and rappers Legs MC and Buzz.

The track will be remixed by Obi Mhondera from 33 Hertz, who has remixed tracks for Christina Aguilera, Natasha Bedingfield and Blue.
