Firefighters were called to extinguish a lorry fire after a driver reported seeing flames and smoke.
A crew from Hove Community Fire Station was sent to the Hangleton link road at 6.30am today.
The lorry was parked up in the southbound layby which is usually occupied by a flower seller.
Crew manager Dan Ball said: "He said he'd seen flames and smoke, and it was pretty hot.
"There was so much housing and body work around it, so we put a lot of water over the break drums to cool them.
"We stayed there until about 7.20am because we were wary of not wanting to impact the morning commuters but obviously we had to make sure the vehicle was safe."
