A CAR went up in flames in the middle of a busy road.
A fire crew was called to Bear Road in Brighton at about 1.20pm today.
This picture by Jimmy Conway of Sussex Police shows the blaze taking hold.
A fire engine from nearby Roedean turned up and the crew doused down the car with two hose reels.
No one was inside or injured but the vehicle was "well alight".
The fire service has not given a cause but notified the police at the time.
Police have advised drivers to avoid the scene while the wreck is cleared.
