FIREFIGHTERS from three different stations spent more than five and a half hours tackling a barn blaze.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) were called to report of a fire near the A27 at Beddingham yesterday.
Four appliances from Lewes, Newhaven and Hove attended the incident at 3.05pm and upon arrival discovered the raging fire at the old dairy buildings which were being used to store hay and straw.
An ESFRS spokesman said: "Crews used breathing apparatus two main jets to bring the fire under control, it was then possible to begin moving the hay and straw to begin damping it down to ensure the fire did not reignite.
"A relief crew was requested at 8pm to continue damping down and turning over the hay and straw.
"Crews left the scene at 8:55pm."
