A horse lorry caught fire while on the road.
The driver pulled over to the side of Halley Road, Heathfield, last night after smoke started pouring from his vehicle.
He called the fire service at 10.17pm, which turned up shortly afterwards to find the lorry well alight.
One crew from Heathfield used breathing gear to get close enough to the flames with a hose and put it out.
No horses were in the lorry at the time.
Earlier that evening in Halley Park, Hailsham, a local crew was called a fire involving a quadbike.
One fire engine turned up at 7.30pm and spent ten minutes putting the accidental blaze out.
