The Labour party have secured the most seats in Brighton and Hove, taking control of the city council from the Greens.
Labour took 23 of the city council's 54 seats with the Conservatives finishing in second place with 20 seats and the Green Party with a disappointing 11 councillors elected.
It was a sobering day for the Greens who fell from power and lost nine councillors including high-profile figures including Sue Shanks and Geoffrey Bowden.
It was nip-and-tuck with the Conservatives who pushed Labour close and eventually bagged 20 seats.
Green councillor Pete West, who was returned to St Peter's and North Laine ward, said the general election had hit the party but they would come back strong.
