A barn containing chickens has gone up in flames.
The single-storey building in St Ives Farm, Hartfield, caught fire at some point before 6pm today.
Two fire engines from retained stations in Barcombe and Forest Row raced to the scene.
Firefighters are using breathing gear and hose reels to get close enough to the blaze, which an East Sussex Fire and Rescue Spokeswoman has said is "well alight".
The building is about 5m by 25m in size and another fire engine from Crowborough is on its way to the scene to supply water at the time of publishing.
It is not known if the chickens were inside when it caught fire.
