ACTRESS Julie Walters started 33 teams as they took part in a 12-hour racing marathon with a difference.
Competitors took to their lawn mowers for the British Lawn Mower Racing Association’s flagship event which took place near Billingshurst on Saturday evening through to Sunday morning.
The teams of three drivers reached speeds of up to 50mph as they racked up 300-plus miles on the grass cutting machines.
By sunrise it was the Northerners’ Kick Grass 3 team who took the chequered flag.
The event also raised hundreds of pounds for charity, with entrance fees going to the nearby Ingfield Manor School for children with cerebral palsy.
