Three people were taken to hospital after a serious road accident this morning (Saturday).
Two cars, both believed to have been black BMWs, crashed on the A27 westbound at Polegate shortly before 8am.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue said crew from Eastbourne attended the scene to initial reports somebody was trapped in one of the vehicles, but they had been freed by the time they arrived.
The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance took one person to hospital while two other people were taken by ambulance.
The Highways Agency said the road would remain closed for "some time" as engineers inspected surface damage
