Sussex Police are calling on parents and other police forces to be on the lookout for a wanted man.
Detectives are seeking Brian Rogers who is wanted for failing to answer bail to be charged with possessing indecent images of children.
Detective Inspector Lee Horner said:" Extensive enquiries have been made to find this man and active enquiries are still continuing, but so far these have failed to reveal his current location.
"Although there is no immediate threat to the wider public, we believe Rogers may try to befriend families of young girls and boys, and we are concerned that he may manipulate relationships for his own advantage."
The 54-year old is described as white, 5'11", of heavy build, with short brown but greying hair and was last seen with a long beard.
DI Horner added: "He speaks with a muffled southern accent. He dresses very casually and his appearance may indicate that he is sleeping rough."
His details have been circulated to every police force in the UK and beyond, through Interpol, as matter of standard procedure.
Anyone who sees Rogers or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call us on 101 quoting Serial 0456 of 22/8.
